It’s that time of year in New York City when black ice (and other substances) freeze to the sidewalks and the wind cuts down your back no matter which direction you go. As we look forward to the spring (lingering way off over the dark horizon … but I can dream) I thought I’d take a second to thank the readers of “Nightfall Gardens” and talk a little about some upcoming projects. First, there will be a long-overdue “Nightfall Gardens” themed book series launch taking place in March in Brooklyn (details to come). Expect booze, NG cupcakes, a costume contest and other goodies. The much-awaited “Nightfall Gardens” album will also be released on the day of the party for download and (if all works out) on vinyl. Twelve awesome musicians from across the globe have contributed songs based on the trilogy. The songs have a dark stark vibe and I can’t wait to share. More on that soon!
Later in the spring, the first book in my seven book “Elyuum” series will be released. I’m super-excited that the fantastic artist Colleen Beauchamp Stiles is illustrating the cover and working on drawings for the book. The “Elyuum” series marks my first attempt at urban fantasy. It tackles topics like gentrification, alternate dimensions, monsters and lost love. Did I mention that the books are really twisted? I’ll be posting more about that series over the next coming months. I’m also working on a short story project with artist Jeff Green of Dallas that should come out over the summer/early fall. The stories (set in Texas and Mexico) loosely follow a brother and sister as they find themselves struggling with their personal lives and things that go bump in the night. The Texas story introduces readers to a town not located not on any Lone Star map — where the residents will kill to keep an ancient secret that they are protecting. Think H.P. Lovecraft meets Joe R. Lansdale. If anyone wants to be added to the “Nightfall Gardens” book launch party list email me at allendhouston.com and I’ll send details as they become available.
