That only seemed to last a lifetime. After a month of highs and lows, the Kindle Scout campaign for The Shadow Of All Things ended last week. In my final ten days I managed to stay in hot and trending for a full nine days and most of the tenth, riding it out the way that I started the campaign. Now my book is in review by a group of Amazon editors who are squirreled away in an undisclosed location. I should find out if it’s going to be a Kindle Scout selection in the near future. As soon I do, I’ll be sure and post the results here and shout it from the nearest rooftop. Despite the constant social media hustle and roller coaster ride of emotions over the last 30 days I’m glad that I tested my mettle in the Kindle Scout waters. I ended up being in hot and trending for more than two-thirds of the month, with votes being a near split of driven traffic and those who found my novel in Kindle Scout. I want to thank everyone who nominated my book and helped spread the word about The Shadow Of All Things. I heard lots of encouraging words from old friends and people I’ve met in my travels. Reconnecting with those I haven’t spoken to in ages as well as meeting new readers was by far the nicest part of the experience. I learned that are there a lot of folks out there who want me to succeed and were there when I needed them. No matter whether Amazon choses my novel or not I look forward to sharing the story of Evelyn, Pharrell, Neil and Adelaide, Redmond, Monk, Magdalena, Grus and all the other characters who imprinted themselves on me in the course of writing their story. Soon I’ll give people on my email list, a first peek at Colleen Stiles’s illustrations for the print edition so sign up to make sure you get to see those beautiful drawings. In closing, if you are stumbling across this blog for the first time or didn’t get to vote for me, jump over to Kindle Scout and give some other up and coming authors love by nominating their books. I’m back to work on the Elyuum series now and soon hope to have a completed first draft of the second book in the series. Have a great week!
